Mr. Mike Herb has been a music educator at Silas (formerly Wilson) High School in Tacoma, WA for 20 years. At Silas he directs two concert bands, the Percussion ensemble, a jazz band, the marching and pep bands, as well as teaching a beginning guitar class. He is a proud graduate of Central Washington University and the American Band College having worked under the batons of: Larry Gookin, Paul-Eliot Cobbs, Andrew Spencer, Dan Schmidt, David Holsinger, Philippe Langlet, Frank Wickes, Ray Cramer, Robert W. Smith, Mike Bankhead, Bruce Dinkins, Ralph Hultgren, Robert Ponto, Lowell Graham, Tony Maiello, and Jan Van Der Roost.
Mike has played trumpet at part of the Moon Valley Brass Quintet, a sub-set of the sno valley winds. He is also a member of the trumpet section of the Northwest Wind Symphony and has played regularly with the Boxley’s Pro-Am Big Band.
Mr. Herb is a member of NAfME, the national association for music education, as well as a member of WMEA (Washington Music Educators Association)
Dr. Dean Snavely is a musician/educator who loves finding ways to connect humans to music in dynamic ways to foster a lifelong love for the arts!
Dean is a specialist in low brass, with a focus on the Tuba, Trombone, and Bass Trombone. He also teaches and plays guitar, and is currently in the process of learning and promoting American folk music and the art of the Hootenanny.
He has had the pleasure of playing and singing with many great musicians, including: Seth McFarlane, Dave Loeb, Ingrid Jensen, Wycliffe Gordon, Mike Longo, Sara Gazarek, John and Bucky Pizzarelli, Doc Severinsen, Dave Barduhn, Douglas Yeo, Toby Oft, Dan Helseth, Deanna Swoboda, and Menachem Pressler.
